Early this year, two SEPTA trolleys collided in West Philadelphia injuring almost 50 people. The trains, which normally run 10 minutes apart, were traveling in very close proximity to each other. One trolley rear-ended the other resulting in a heavy response from emergency personnel. At this time, the cause is unknown. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the cause of the crash and why the two trolleys were traveling so close to each other. Given the nature and circumstances surrounding the accident, it is foreseeable that there will be claims made by injured riders.
Recently, SEPTA has been involved in a number of other accidents involving trains and buses hitting pedestrians and people on train platforms due to faulty equipment.
