Special Photo I.D. Issued For Voters In Pennsylvania Lacking Proper Documentation

According to Pennsylvania’s new voter ID law, those lacking proper identification such as a driver’s license must provide several documents when attempting to obtain a non-Driver ID card, including either a birth certificate or valid passport, as well as two proof’s of residency, which can include utility bills, tax records, and weapons permits. Such new restrictions required by the law, intended to combat supposed voter fraud, are a clear impediment to those seeking to acquire a non – driver ID. However, in response to growing concern over the inability of many to present such documentation, Pennsylvania’s Department of State recently announced it will make available a special photo ID card specifically for those voters who lack the necessary credentials. In other words, those lacking a birth certificate will still be eligible for a non – driver ID.

It is estimated that at least 1 million voters currently are in need of PennDOT – issued IDs; of this million, 759,000 are believed to be missing either their birth certificate or some other required form necessary to acquire a non – drive ID. It is this group of voters which are the target of the Pennsylvania Republican’s unfair, unconstitutional law. The law seeks to disenfrancise these voters in an attempt to take back the White House. Pennsylvanians have to remain alert so that our rights do not further erode.
