Senators Take on Unnecessary Off-Label Use of Antipsychotics in Nursing Homes

In an effort to prevent nursing home abuse, Senators Herb Kohl, Chuck Grassley and Richard Blumenthal filed a proposal that requires federal regulators to issue standardized rules for nursing homes to follow in seeking permission from nursing home patients and their families to use powerful antipsychotics for off-label uses. Numerous studies show that antipsychotic medications can be harmful to frail, elderly patients with dementia who do not have serious mental illness. Unfortunately, there are many victims of nursing home abuse in Philadelphia. This horrific drugging that is being taken on by the United States Senators is but one type of abuse that occurs every day. If you or a family member is a victim of off-label antipsychotic use in a Philadelphia Nursing Home, you need a Philadelphia personal injury lawyer to protect your rights.
